But in the VIZ manga, it's left ambiguous why she's upset with Yamcha.

A really interesting difference in the manga is Vegeta never leaves Earth to find Goku like in the anime. He's spent two years living at Capsule Corp as a civilian, wearing the infamous pink shirt at a BBQ casually. This COMPLETELY changes the dynamic with Bulma, IMO.
