i actually have this screenshot from "first night with the duke" webtoon and it shows the titles in order pretty well :)
king is higher than duke, emperor is king of wayy bigger kingdom (combination of many kingdoms through war usually)

and duke doesnt have to be from north :)

Yeah pretty much! I had to get into bgs when I started participating in arpgs, since drawings with bgs usually gives you a nice exp bonus. I started very simple with single colour bgs, so I only had to think of a decent composition and not involve much shading, light and colour
