2 days before before time trials the Ford experiment with Mario driving crashed hard in Turn4 and came apart with fire 🔥everywhere! A result of a broken hub. Mario received burns on his face from the car that was fastest all month. Mario was very lucky to escape this hard hit.

The month of May in 1969 at Indy did not go very smooth for even though he did win the race. When practice started Mario's team had a Colin Chapman Lotus 64! A 4 wheel drive Ford . The car was fast but showed unreliable. Most of the parts were from a F1 car design!
