I read an article a while ago about how fish bowls are bad because the fish doesn't get enough oxygen and because of the shape everything is distorted and disorienting 😶
"The Rose" -- one of the most spectacular @NASAHubble images -- the interacting galaxies Arp 273. The larger galaxy (UGC 1810) is tidally distorted, and has young blue stars in clusters. Arp 273 is about 300 million light years away.

Instead the distortion increases based on your distance from certain critical areas that the cartographer can (often) specify.
