It's consistently more interesting when the character being depicted *isn't* Superman, but a twist on the character archetype. When the character *is* Superman, it almost inevitably wastes creative potential to go down a path of shock value in most cases.

As an archetype imo it is similar to the ninja archetype. Also is an 'Athenian' necessarily aligned to good? That's an interesting question too. You could also assign it to Chinese philosophy. Perhaps Magolor is Athenian in context of yin (+his 'strategic' aesthetic).

also, here's one for rebby and callidora exactly: the exosisters as an archetype borrow lots of imagery from Class S yuri, where the idea of promised "sisters" in a catholic school is a cover for lesbian relationships. they even have a lily motif in their crest design
