BTW Tomonori Kogawa (湖川友謙) is one of the most influential anime artists of all time. Chara designer on Ideon, Xabungle, Dunbine and much more! He radically redefined how anime looked in the late 70s and 80s and onward! One of the biggest influences on classic Capcom too!

I think a lot of parallels can be drawn between Akira Toriyama and Ken Sugimori, and their influences on their respective franchises. Similarly, they've also greatly changed their styles over the years, and have tremendous talent for character design.

We pulled influences from films like The Black Cauldron, which you can see in the cauldron itself and the nod to the Horned King for the Necromancer's Lair. enjoyed leaning into more dark and brooding colour scheme in BGs surrounding the Skull.
