Artists are already working with the NEW YORK TIMES front page as a backdrop for new political art.

And with good reason—we *can't* become immune to outrage over the ways in which this president's perfidy, venality and malfeasance *directly* led to these 100,000 COVID-19 deaths.

"Well... maybe you never saved the world or anything, but this year was fun, right?"

it's my 18th birthday, and i think that calls for the most self indulgent thing of all: drawing my favourite character holding my fursona in a backdrop based on a picture of my childhood home.

Argentinian artist Sofia Bonati illustrates arresting hypnotic portraits that question the distinction between subject and backdrop. She poses her women against dense floral motifs that conceal the bounds of their hair or clothing. https://t.co/eAzM4b14pc via

I’ve been experimenting with environments a lot recently, trying to find the right style I want to use for the project I’m working on, so thought I’d sketch up backdrops for a few of my characters.

Another view of my concept piece for my future webcomic! Experimenting with lighting and painting scenic backdrops. Looks like it is going well!

It's very hard to pick one that's the "best" but one that I think deserves more attention is Mushishi, it ranges from classic ink wash backdrops to Ghibli level foliage detail. ITS SO HARD TO PICK ONLY FOUR PHOTOS

Last year I did some backdrop artwork for 's Windfish kit. The two sides represent key moments of the dreamer: in slumber and awakened.
