i think the aesthetic for sonic frontiers is fine for what they’re going for, even if it looks kinda generic, but if they wanted to pursue a more whimsical/typically “sonic” aesthetic, some good places to start would be sonic CD’s FMV cutscenes and the OVA.
my sona for the longest of time was the little spider dude u see on the right but i wanted to try and actually make a real design.
