Remember, remember, the 5th of November! On this day in 1605, there was a failed plot to assassinate King James VI of Scotland and I of England. The failure of this plot is celebrated to this day in the UK. Here is the coat of arms of the King that survived on that fateful day.

Did you know polymath Sir Thomas Browne was not only born 1605 but actually died on his 77th birthday in 1682?

Browne lived in Norwich from 1637 until his death. His home is depicted in this watercolour ‘The Residence of Sir Thomas Browne’ by A.W. Howlings (1900).
