4/ Richard Dadd (1843-86). Dadd was imprisoned in 1843 for murdering his father, who he thought was the devil. The rest of his career was spent in Bedlam and Broadmoor. He specialised in detailed depictions of fairies. Bottom left was found on the Antiques Roadshow. #IsolationArt
'The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke' is a painting completed by Richard Dadd whilst an a patient in Bethlem (Bedlam) Hospital. Dadd murdered his father in 1843 convinced that he was the Devil. Dadd's father features in the painting holding a pestle.
