#BookIllustratonOfTheDay is a tribute to the mighty Victor Ambrus, who died yesterday. One of the great illustrators, this Hungarian emigre was a magnificent draughtsman. One of the kindest & gentlest people I’ve ever met. This is from his “King Arthur” (Riordan 1982). Farewell!
Inspired by the marvellous @mrjamesmayhew... a thread of *some* of my favourite illustrators, almost all sourced from my bookshelves.
#BookIllustrationOfTheDay3.
I love James' Katie series, for making art history child friendly.
I *need* to own the Mrs Noah books!

An illustrator informed us that at a recent conference, an art director ACTUALLY said, “it’s lazy to draw dots for eyes”.
Look how lazy Leonard Weisgard, Fritz Siebel, Jean-Jacques Sempé, and Helen Oxenbury are!
If you know any lazy illustrators, let us know in the comments.
AND The Puffin Book of Big Dreams! A gorgeous giftable anthology with a truly diverse collection of writers, illustrators, and young dreamers!
Thank you to Infinite Worlds Magazine for having me illustrate Hudson Phillips’ short story Spilt Milk in issue #5! I’m thrilled about this issue because it has an interview with one of my favorite illustrators, sci-fi fantasy legend Bruce Pennington! Make sure you snag one!
