I am from Italy 🇮🇹 and I love Cirrus. Cirrus is a complex character with skeletons in his closet. I always sensed a great sensitivity in him, I knew he would be misunderstood, and that gave me a greater emapathy for him that many readers initially did not understand.

So the only things that stayed from the original design besides the freckles, dark skin, and heterochromia of the eyes. The heterochromia happens in S4 of OM for Rue. Rue's hair initially was going to be ombre, very similar to Essence's hair but whitish gray instead of brown.
