Just felt like drawing him in this with a lil bun cause ya know, I can and all- plus it was some good practice with a new brush I was testing out ( water color opaque for shading) . Definitely like the outcome-

[wip rts ok] i managed to render most of the clothes and put down all of the base layers so i can start properly rendering the rest of the painting tomorrow :)
i also cant wait to add his glasses cause theyre really fun to paint when using opaque paints like gouache or oils

Yeah that's what I'm wondering, if shadows were painted solid black on a layer below. I've seen some examples of that on animation cels (googled). Seemingly opaque paint.

-I switched from opaque and thin lineart to thiccc lineart :DD
-I went from Linear Dodge to Color Dodge + Multiply

⬇️ I would try a semi-opaque brush with the eye dropper tool.😊 I make “steps” to reach color A to B - varying your pen pressure can help with this too. For smoother blending, I use a mixing or smudge brush with my main brush. Hope this helps!😚
