for is "Energy." 🌊

Another couple of pieces that would probably work just as well for the "circular" prompt, but I think these also express ideas about energy.

Both of these artworks are from 2015, the first in watercolor & the second in acrylic.

Day 19 - for On a trip to NOLA standing in the rain I saw this neon sign. Made it my sketchbook cover and then made it a gif. Also may have tried blinding myself by looking up neon turning on and off.

Day 18 - for A bit more abstracted . A Family group with support and a family member leaving with a guide.
but more ya?

“Theoretical” makes me think of speculative zoology. Which makes me think of hypothetical display structures on, say, Triceratops…

(Look somebody else suggested this years ago; it’s not entirely my fault.)

For circular prompt, which I didn’t quite manage yesterday. I do adore circles so here is an eye nebula for your Saturday🧿💫.

A couple more illustrations for the "Circular" theme 🔵🟢🟡

I dug out a couple OLD drawings, both from 2012. Ink & marker on paper.

day 24, I love circles, so there are many directions this could have taken. Went with homemade walnut ink and acorn caps to make this celebration of the season and all things round.

for is "Circular." 🟡🟠🔴

I use circular shapes in my work a lot. My sketchbooks are full of Venn diagram-like doodles. I'm unsure what the attraction is to these shapes but I always return to them.

These are both acrylic & glitter on canvas, 2016.

"evolving"
Crows are aware of themselves & able to think consciously, but lack the part of the brain (cerebral cortex) that scientists posited as the location of this type of thinking. Implying consciousness might be older & more widespread than believed (duh?)

Day 23:
A tree (symbolising a cancer cell) fertilised with splicing modulators blooms with bright neoantigens, which enhance tumour recognition by the immune system 🌳🌺

The prompt for day 21 of theme is 'evolving'. Everything around us is evolving every moment, I decided to go with a panel of salmonids. One family and look at the diversity within species!

- Earlier this summer, I got to watch a Dragonfly metamorphosis in real time. Took about 20 minutes for the little creature to “evolve” from a fierce water monster to a swift flying predator.

That has got to feel *jarring*.

"cerulean" day 19: Lake Champlain on a winter night

For today's prompt repost of host-parasitoïd model/coevolution

For the prompt evolving, a red polka dotted porcelain crab. Did you know things* keep evolving into crabs?! Well, crustaceans- at least 5 groups of decapod crustaceans have decided that the true crab body shape is where it’s at. (And by “decided” of course I mean

Day 21: Evolving

Life cycle of a meadow (Pseudochorthippus parallelus)
I really like the order. For next year, I am planning some bigger with these special - and underrated - animals.
