Today is the last day of "Encounters: Althea Murphy-Price!" Murphy-Price’s lithographic prints complement her sculptural pieces, each referencing one element of the seemingly endless universe of artificial hair. We're open from 12-5 p.m. View this exhibition on closing day!

Drawing moth chrysalis this morning, or is it chrysaliss? I often find these in the soil, yesterday whilst weeding. Remember being intrigued by these as a child, still am, like cuckoo pint plants they seem rather exotic and interesting. Wonderfully sculptural.

Yes, most large structures in Mesoamerica had some combination of coverings of stucco, sculptural facades or stone fretwork (as seen there) and painted accents or murals

These pics show reconstructions (third pic is of Uxmal, like the above photos) showing this. In fact...

Few close ups from one of my sculptural pieces. I'm planning to start making new work soon though based on previous experience it may take some time to finish and show everyone but I have got a few days clear for the first time in weeks so you never know!

Contrary to popular belief, Von Oppenheim was NOT first to know of the sculptures of the tell. It was the Iraqi-Assyrian archaeologist Hormuzd Rassam who first heard about the site in 1882, sent his representative to Tell Halaf, and confirmed the presence of sculptural ruins.(5)

I love bringing the human face to either sculptural or graphic extremes in art. Soon, I will be taking a "head and hands" workshop, hoping to level up my depictions of this enigmatic subject. For now, enjoying this throwback: '100 heads challenge' sketches🌿
