Did an experiment to see how the pokemon art style works and besides a bit of tweaking, I think I got it.

I made 2 Shellos forms for my Australian Region. It's dex says there are other forms, so I decided to make a south and north form.

While training Mareep and Shellos in the Windworks, Kirdy found his last Pokemon before he went out on his adventure. A wild Driftloon grabbed Mareep and flew it away. In a panicked state, Kirdy threw a pokeball to have it drop Mareep and it was actually captured.

In his free time, Kirdy would sneak down to the Valley Windworks and train with Shellos where he found a rare Mareep sneaking in the grass. This became his second Pokemon.

Young Kirdy caught his first Pokemon right outside of his hometown on route 205. A baby Shellos had crawled out of the river near the honey tree and bridge. The two bonded immediately.
