スコーピオンの愛称のP-61ブラックウィドウの後継機として設計されたが、初期は事故多発で落ちまくった戦闘機。J型は空対空核ロケット弾のジーニーミサイルを搭載可能で、これ有効爆発半径300mとかいうトンでも核兵器。

一見四輪駆動のジープみたいな見た目だが実は後輪の2駆というポルシェ設計のフォルクスワーゲン・タイプ1を軍用にした物。
