The beautiful Lagoon Nebula, located about 4,100 ly from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. The Lagoon is one of the two active star-forming regions visible to the eye in the northern hemisphere (anyone wanna guess the other one?). It's especially visible with binoculars.
May might have limited dark hours for stargazing, but on 5 and 6 May keep your eyes open for the peak of the Eta Aquarids meteor shower and grab a pair of binoculars to look at Comet C/2017 T2 (Panstarrs).
