There's gonna me a lot of talk about Brubaker, so I wanted to take the moment up front to just say that Steve Epting's art is AMAZING. The perfect artist for this series.

Also, telling the story from Red Skull's perspective was really cool, & that ending is still a shocker!

Eyes Of The Dragon is a five-part storyline running from issues 6-10 of SECRET AVENGERS in which Fu Manchu, now definitively renamed to Zheng Zu, is brought back via a resurrection ritual which requires Shang-Chi's blood! Brubaker brings the spy story back to Shang in full force.

Read The Fade Out by Brubaker/Philips and it's up there with their best stuff. Good mystery and characters, unique sense of place, and despite dripping in the noir genre, never quite knew where it was going.

For reasons I can't explain a few years ago I sold off all my trades of the Brubaker/Fraction/Gillen era of Uncanny X-Men and today I severely severely regret that.

Just finished the 2nd Reckless book and it's more gritty, moody, AWESOMENESS from & .....roll on Book Three.

I recall how beautifully drawn but painfully dull post-9/11 Captain America was.

And then Ed Brubaker reignited Cap with an updated tradional take which -- "Surprise, Surprise" -- rocked many a socks off.

My two main men. I'm sure yous all know by now my love for Brubakers entire Cap run, so ill say no more.

Snyders run on Batman though, damn, that was one HELL of a run, took Batman out of his comfort zone and told him his life was a lie, it'll always be so close to my heart. https://t.co/ias74v8VDh
