Another way to play with focus without using a blur filter is the way Canete does with linework here. He fades/tapers off the details & lines into nothingness.

It serves to both push the reader’s focus into one area while including a distinct light source blowing out details.

Oh, right, here, these drawings are old (I dislike how the faces turned out . . .) but they're a good color guide. None of my characters wear the same outfit all the time so you can wildcard the details. Her eyes are gray, and she's pretty damn short, 145 cm (or 4.75 ft).
