Ninox is a fan favorite now, but she wasn't originally named in the first draft, though early readers/editors nicknamed her Strixette. A lot of characters get unnamed cameos in Eyrie (Henders at the gardens, Biski), but Ninox is one of the few who ultimately had her name added.

Late night fact: while writing the first draft of Eyrie, the reference I used for Ninox was a black-banded owl clutching its talons like it was a cartoon villain saying "Next time, squirrel. Next time!"

Black-banded owls are a type of strix owl, surprising no one.

It did! The fifth gryphon book just hit shelves. It's crazy to think we're up to five now. Seems like yesterday it was 2017 and I was turning Eyrie into my editors with Zeph hanging upside-down from a tree hunting parrots.

The new one is sand cat gryphons and flamingo opinici.
