I loved The Book of Gothel by - an evocative, well researched, beautifully written fairy tale, with a strong heroine and a fascinating interplay of magic, folklore, religion and power. I so enjoyed imagining Haelewise (what a great name!) for these illustrations ❤️

I've just finished The Book of Gothel by - wow! I adore beautiful fairy tale retellings with strong women and this one is a gem. The evocative imagery inspired me to paint a couple of illustrations that I'll share soon. In the meantime, here are the final thumbnails.
