This was his previous design! I wanted to keep the super basics (half white w/orange markings, general body shape, etc) but I wanted to update his colors/patterns bc he was originally made for an ARPG and had some design/pattern limitations (also ft Kel's old design)
@butchjpg Same face, skin, expression, body shape, etc. across multiple characters. I get same face syndrome is common but cmon. Wouldn’t hurt to try different proportions or non-white characters doing a different face other than “:0” with varying levels of blush, esp in the same artwork

When I started drawing it again, I didn't even bother looking back for reference; I had a general idea of what it was shaped like. I guess at the time I'd chosen that more triangular shape, now it's more standard. I chose new colors completely blindly and it somehow matched up
@BloomMoonbeam twilight never stopped looking like a pony who grew into alicorn shape, which is why she looks so uncanny to me.
