Then there's another layer, the mesh is displaced out a little and a separate distortion shader (this one) is put on top. The distortion is "projected" out from an empty sitting off to the left, so it matches the cone shape of the trail.

once thrastor sets his eyes on a target to capture, it's definitely quite hard to throw him off your trail. ESPECIALLY if he's getting paid good money to catch you! 💰💰💰🐊
