Been so long since I did this piece now that I look at it.
Still doing traditional as I was very new to digital art and was reluctant to go full digital. So I inked the art scanned it and then added color, So I could always keep the original lineart uncolored.

When buying an illustrated book before the 20th century, you usually had the option to buy it colored (more expensive) or uncolored (cheaper, but not as pretty). A famous example of this is the 1493 Nuremberg Chronicle, sold uncolored (Vassar College) & colored (Morgan Library)
