Movie [63/200] — Vampyr — [C]

Shot beautifully and manages to be unsettling, even for it’s time. A large portion of the story is told by text and limited dialogue, which was a limitation for the time, but it did drag the movie down a lot. Neat early horror film.

A group of monster fighters team up to defeat Lord Vampyre after he acquires the powerful Moonstone. I don't believe this theme properly concluded, and otherwise did not feature golden items that were integral to the theme.

Byron’s unfinished vampire story “Fragment of a Novel”, written in response to his own ghost-story challenge the night prior at Villa Diodati, was dated & likely written 17 June 1816. Byron’s fragment, as well as himself, both influenced Dr. Polidori’s “The Vampyre”.
