once again reiterating, I am a pale, medium-light skin tone. these characters are supposed to hail from an egypt/persian/etc region(which is a whole different issue but whatever)

You dont get his unique use of lighting or fashions. You get what you get.
But Pako draws people in any skin color tho. His not like an exclusively one skin color guys his very varied: Pale, Yellowish, Dark and etc
