I like how everyone is making some new cool theories with Marisa appearance here for Touhou 18.5, but then I'm sitting here remembering-
"Wait a second, she's been drawn different eye colors, hair styles and colors before already by ZUN lmao"
My take on Marisa's hair and eye colour, as well as lack of side braid : The hair was made lighter to stand out better from the background, the eyes were made red to contrast better with the new hair colour, the braid was omitted because it was too difficult to draw in this pose.
bringing this back: zun copy/pasted the faces of all 4 UM protagonists, only the eye color changes between them
it almost looks like he reused the face for 18.5, but he actually just drew something very similar, maybe he traced his own art?
also marisa has red eyes now not yellow
