@dmzkei the lines at the back around the shoulders is the scapula of course so this is the shape they have and they tend to rotate with the arm! and around the back of the hips is your pelvis. you would usually have not TOO much definition around the edge of it like you do on the front
Pictured: current animator mood as Maya crashes again after you rotate the elbow a little too far for its liking
I don't remember how often these splash images rotated out, but I've probably got over five hundred of them.
Here are the first two hundred.

@DoveyiiDoveyii @MTZPyrasWolf @SparksEchidna Plus, now that I think about it, she actually does canonically rotate her ears, since she needs to do that in order to flap them up and down at the sides of her head

more low-poly 3d art stuff in crocotile
made a little tank robot critter
figured out how to split, subdivide, and rotate polygons
i like to imagine this tank is about the size of a volkswagen beetle
kinda like dominion tank police or metal slug

@Sonic_Hedgeblog Yeah, I know, this is about a non-stiff running animation, which...even Sonic kinda does, with no bobbing once over a certain speed, but I can't stress enough how many games have human characters that never subtly rotate their head. Even I'm guilty of this lazy spritework!
come to think of it... the passage from R&D to chunky's room would also make sense if we assume you get _turned around_ when you climb up the tube from Testing to R&D. i wonder if it was rotated as an oversight, or just done to make the layout easier on the level designers
@AQuemarSuela it's less about being a mohawk and more about being the circular ridge on the back of Sonic's head in 2D artwork - sprites where Sonic rotates vertically in Mania help demonstrate this, since he doesn't have a mohawk like he did in Sonic 2 IIRC
"Gordon, I have the free will to choose what I want but I choose to rotate!"

Spinwheel - Studies show that it shares a common ancestor with Fanshee's family. They can often be seen rooting themselves in the ground, letting the wind rotate the frills on their head. It is said that this is to filter out the oxygen in the air, providing them with energy.
