genuinely though with higurashi the orig visuals of these extremely 2000s sprites and the filtered photo bgs are sooooo much more compelling and charming to me than making it just look like any other vn... honestly i find the background redraws way more offensive than the sprites

This isn't to say that the other two routes aren't great because they are and certainly do other stuff better than UBW. This is just to highlight how this route is able to do "so much with so little" in such a compelling way.
