@ThePaperNESGuy I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with the design of DS/Wii era Mario but I do think that GameCube/DS/early Wii era Mario series artwork really has suffered in hindsight with the black shading making everything look so much less vibrant and warm
i feel like mario's face in 3D renders briefly dipped into some evil territory in the gamecube/wii era. but then in the HD era they brought back this cuddly warmth he had in the N64 era. it's the chubby plush proportions of his face
