the shading is whats going to sell it as a kingdom art, i have herbs pull art as a reference on the side.. i have to do soft gradual shading as well as the lighting on the coloring and outlines. very little tells on what makes it apart of a specific cookie game

The design goal is dirty pixelart, so it's forgiving, but even considering that, there are direct errors: Inconsistent shapes, inconsistent outlines, large brush work visible, dirty inbetween colors...

Question, which one do you think looks better? No outline (which looks more like Soul Blazer), 1 outline, or multiple outlines?

Also, does this style look too much like Soul Blazer? Sprites aren't really my strong suit, so I don't know what looks good.

For Monchi, we referenced paintings like this one from Nacho Molina and . We drew lined shapes near his whiskers and around his eyes, simplified his fur into painted strokes, and colored outlines with varying width & breakup on his body.

In Episode 4 of V-Force some shots in the episode show characters with thick outlines mostly in dark settings, I absolutely love that art style in Anime & Cartoons I always try to replicate the thick outline style all the time in my art it just looks so fucking cool!! 😆♥️

Major update with Painquin:
I'm going back and giving all the characters thicker outlines, as well as going back to polish up the backgrounds a little bit more! I want to make this first episode as good-looking as it can be, and I'm very excited to share once it's finished.

I think it has to be the eyes and thick outlines, i have seen a few cases where the outline has shrunk but the eyes stay the same
