TLDR: yes stylize your characters, and yes stereotypes exist. There’s no “right” answer in character design Just make sure to give space (and share!) those who are trying to make change! My favs rn are ’s The Witch Boy, ’s Steven Universe, and more! 6/6

Claremont did not always succeed at escaping stereotype himself (see accents as one example of this), but under his watch the characters became progressively more independent from type, often undermining it altogether. 3/4

This is Bow, a bobcat named after their rainbow eyes. They’re genderfluid, they/them pronouns, and are very outgoing. They like to fight against the lazy cat stereotype, enjoying time outside and hanging out with people.

is trending, such a shame it's for the wrong reasons. Orcs are awesome and no one should be stereotyped or pigeonholed to make others feel comfortable. Here are a few pics of Rok and Rum for you to enjoy.

Sam, in basically every form he has ever been in.

I tried to tag every universe/trope/stereotype that I threw him in over in Tumblr and Insta but I’m tired now lol.
Also I forgot pokemon Sam so now I’m upset :(

Debating on whether I should get into Kinnikuman. On one hand there's something kinda interesting about examining crude stereotypes in old media that perhaps did not have any ill intent(G Gundam lol) but on the other I think this might cut it a bit close on the "YIKES" scale lol.

Rouge is a great character. She's a treasure hunter and GUN agent, she formed Team Dark, and is a great rival for Knuckles and partner for Shadow and Omega.

I've seen a lot of people stereotype her and she diffidently doesn't deserve it.

Dislikes: people who assume shit about you because of a stereotype, and the ocean. Other than that I’m pretty chill

Actually, it seems that this happy boi stereotype is an archetype that Sonic Team likes using for a lot of their protagonists. Even the genderless NiGHTS can read like this some times.

A far cry from the radical, jerk with a heart of gold that us 90's kids in the US grew with

Kelsey is a Saluki. Salukis are supposed to be slender sighthounds but he’s always been one to buck trends and stereotypes :3 https://t.co/5GPj0G19rt
