@NidheyaSuresh Yup, its why the Archie and Betty marriage life stories feel more natural while in the Archie and Veronica, you can tell the writers always struggled to make it work because you have to break Archie's character to make it work.
Betty is devastated, even though Veronica couldn't care less. They don't even have a moment of clarity for Veronica to realize her mistake.
Veronica isn't sorry, her aim was to make Betty look like an idiot. She "won."
Next, Veronica, fueled by her desire to win, underhandedly destroys Betty's food to mess up her dinner.
The motivations of Betty and Veronica for their dynamic to work in the comics is:
- Veronica wants to win against Betty
- Betty wants Archie's attention
If you ever read Dan Parent's "Love Showdown," it's all there, too.
That's why she invites Veronica too. She wants to get Archie's attention but she isn't doing it to hurt Veronica. If anything, she could've just invited Archie to dinner alone.
Veronica, however, instantly assumes the worse of Betty even tho she currently has Archie's attention.
The premise is, Betty sadly watches Archie and Veronica at Pops, and Jughead offers that something that can win points with Archie is that Betty's a good cook. This gives her an idea to host va for dinner.
In the comics, Betty is kind, but not a pushover. She's sensitive, too.
