In May, we will raise a big carp in Japan to pray for the growth and happiness of children.
In such a landscape, it’s a story about a mischievous Rainbow.

The meager carp is a symbol of hope and perseverance in Japan: if a carp can leap all the way up a waterfall, it is said that the gods will turn it into a dragon, a blessing for their hard work. May we all have such perseverance in the days ahead. #FolkloreThursday
Today is Children’s Day in Japan!
May 5th is Children's Day in Japan. To celebrate the boys, we hang the carp streamer "Koinobori" and use the iris bath "shobuyu". And we decorate the samurai dolls “gogatsu ningyō” in the hope that our sons will grow into strong people.
Two of the most popular dolls to display on this day are the folk heroes Kintarō (金太郎 'Golden Boy'), riding a giant carp, & Momotarō (桃太郎 'Peach Boy’).
Kintarō is known for his great strength.
Momotarō was born from a giant peach discovered by a childless elderly couple🍑
