As it's very obvious, the progress is being really slow since the teaser release, life is hard! However, there's a few things that are planned to be shown soon: New Stages, UI and New character.
The release date for March sounds unlikely to happen now though, 2023 Q2 maybe.

While I disagree that your designs don't hit, I am still willing to give advice on how I do mine. The best I got is to make the most detailed sketch you can of a simple design, and then simplify it back down into a normal character.
