I've actually managed to create something that remotely resembles the manga/anime style I've been going for for YEARS... guess the key is in using think outlines, and proper highlights and shading... I'm actually proud of something for once...

ALRIGHTY, anyone else have the problem in Animate where no matter what you try, certain frames lose their outlines like this when you turn them into symbols? I've been stuck on this for a good 10+ minutes now

I also tried out an alt where she has inverted colours and stuff.
Personally I think the original looks a bit better (perhaps because it's something I'm used to and all. and outlines stand out more), but this is a nice little twist.
