E. Simms Campbell was born on this day, January 2, in 1906.
The co-founder of @esquire, Arnold Gingrich, cited Campbell’s work as key in the launch and popularity of the magazine.
Described as being the first Black cartoonist in the U.S., Campbell’s legacy is one to study.
