For the "fake transparency" I reverse the normals. So the color is seen from the inside. And don't forget to check that your mesh has no "Double sided" rendering, like that you see through the outside face!

the head is a base mesh that I fussed with to have the same features as the mesh used in the game; as a result it looks really weird from various angles but pretty good from the 3/4 view most often seen in the actual story
