Pulp writer Robert E. Howard was born OTD in 1906. His creations of Conan the Barbarian, Kull, Solomon Kane, and his horror fiction would provide a steady stream of material for Marvel, beginning in the early 70s. He died by suicide at 30 as his mother lay dying herself.
