Shadows go in the contrary direction of the light source.

I like drawing a small bulb with an arrow as a guide. Not knowing where the light comes from makes harder to "guess" where shadows go.

My art mostly consists of doodles and sometimes, rather than lining to refine said doodles, it's better to go looser on them :) The results are 😔👌

Other than that, definetly trying to be harsher with shadows. I strayed from it because little me made dark shading look muddy..

Outlining your cel shaded shadows kinda slaps, learnt it from a certain Sango Harukawa illustration for BSD lol, it's a really nice way to add a little texture and variety without deviating from the cel shaded look without over complicating it!
