Small illustration made for Smogon's Summer Collab event, I did the outlines and @brzozod526 did the color (thanks a lot again). It's different from pixel art and I really like this drawing so I wanted to share it.

On my older portfolios (deviantart and instagram) you can find drafts and studies with seemingly the opposite (but in core the same) approach:

head fully outlined @ body not outlined

face fully outlined (including ears) @ neck, hair and horns are not

I have spot an interesting pattern.

I do not use full outline on my art, even on portraits/characters.

But when I do, I outline the whole body. But not the head

6. Don't need to outline everything

Sometimes the lineart can take away from the overall image. I typically skip outlining clothing details and let the colors be more cohesive.

@Nick87379978 Its to complex to explain on twitter, but the basis of my current cel-shading approach is derived from this tutorial. If you did what is outlined here you'd get pretty close to it.
