From Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. It's a series of landscape prints by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai (1760–1849). I am fascinated by the boldness of the composition of his works.
The design of the ocean waves during the typhoon caused by Ponyo were inspired by the waves in the famous woodblock print The Wave Off Kanagawa by Japanese artist Hokusai.
