Poster 26 for is an experiment I wanted to try. I painted several "strips" with watercolor, then added them digitally in Procreate and used multiply blend mode to get the layered/transparent effect.

Messing around with shading with Multiply layers. I'll probably keep working with this, but start masking each individual layer and working with the individual local colors and textures. We'll see!

This piece of my fursona is 9 years old.
It's actually a massive milestone piece as I'd never shaded that way before. I was directed to a tutorial for how to use multiply and overlay layers effectively and never looked back. I love how significant this is for me.

3. They have a sort of "overclocking" function - the gems on their body change color and they can boost things like speed or strength. Activating multiple boosts at once has a chance to damage their body - they can also multiply the intensity of a boost, at great risk.

"ARE THEY GOING TO MULTIPLY NOW?!"

Ok, so, I'm actually stupid and forgot about this, but what I also often do is simply use a multiply layer like this. I tend to put ALL of my colours into one folder, so if I put a layer on top of it, clip it, set it to multiply and fill it, I'm done!

CSP brush recommendation for shading with soft watercolor border ✨ I usually use it with 'compare density' blending mode on multiply layer

trying American comic coloring style again, i haven't do this kind of things for ages. So simple, yet so many layers upon layer. Most of them are overlays and multiply, but i opted out multiplies because simply, i don't like them.

I add colors onto the grayscale with overlay, color, and multiply layers where ever i need to. The skin and the hair and eyes and such are all on overlay layers and blush on a multiply. U dont have to do it exactly like this. Just mess around with colors and layer effects.

Shading tutorial (or at least how I do it)

1. New clipping mask layer

2. Set it to multiply and lower the opacity to 35%

3. Choose a dark pink~purple color (for this I chose this color)

4. Happy shading!

with color WIP. Another painting over a toned sketch, this time using Multiply and Overlay. Again, so intimidating. Sometimes you just gotta jump in and trust your instincts will guide you. 11
