Though def not the beginning of High School but one of the earliest things i could find this was maybe from about 05-06? but gotta say there is something refreshing seeing comparisons sometimes, while other times seeing old art can def give that cringe feeling

And yes, I've heard the comparisons with SMRPG and DKC

One thing you'll notice in those games is how smaller the palette is for them, so they look super detailed without looking antia-aliased

As well as the lack of outlines that make them blend better with the background (2/3)

For the record, I also have seen comparisons between Sonic 06 and Final Fantasy 13. Then I looked into FF13 through reviews and I nearly fucking busted a gut when I saw what they did with the series' mascot creature.
