Pierre Paulus 1881–1959 b. Châtelet, Hainaut, Belgium. Expressionist painter inclined toward social realism with much of his work featuring the mining towns of his homeland, he briefly worked with the British artist, Frank Brangwyn, before serving with the Belgian Army in WWI.
