On the new shading layer, I use a light purple with a hard round brush. The Multiply blend mode does all the heavy lifting, but here's what it looks like after I rough the shade in.

Then with smartly applying the blur tool to the edges and lowering the opacity to 50.

So I got bored and I’ve just been practicing on shading with multiply layers. I like it a lot! It’s been keeping my mind preoccupied lately. I’ve not been feeling too great in recent days, so it’s nice to just draw and listen to music at times. It always makes me feel better! :D

idk if this makes sense but i used a dark red/purple and set it to multiply, lower the opacity and then clean the layer up a bit

I found a watercolor brush on the CSP material database that I really like. most watercolor brushes either lack the right texture, or multiply like crazy when you pick up the brush. This one hits the look and feel that makes me feel like I'm doing real watercolor sketches.

beginning of 2020: lineart, colors all on seperate layers, shading on the same layers as the colors

end of 2020: sketch, sketch, lineart, colors all on one layer, 2 multiply shading layers, highlights

Dear everyone, please stop using a black airbrush multiply layer to shade your pictures.

Use a hard blue brush (for normal everyday lighting, sometimes green or purple!) and pick brighter colors. Also add a solid white highlight layer at 50% for some shine.

Quick little doodle because I had the urge to draw more glow. Also to get back into ibspaint haha.

It's just Technoblade today. 2 versions because the multiply layer made a very big change.
