The only kisses in PreCure are movie exclusive (Coco & Nozomi) and manga exclusive (Mirai & Riko).

Toei will likely never do it on the show proper. There'll always be crushes, love interests, romantic references & yuri undertones, but I doubt they'll ever do kisses on TV.

A mixture of things! I really like stars as a symbolic concept and wanted to incorporate that in a hedgehog’s quills! I looked at Toei Sonic and the way sonic looked in the Sonic OVA for inspiration. Red is my favorite color too so I looked at Kirishima from Mha for a spiky look!

Something I found interesting: Bobanbo (the male character) has a completely different design in the TV version, while Babanba (the female) remains mostly the same. I've found nothing explaining why, but I have to imagine Toei found issue with the design.
