The backgrounds in the sidescroller Legend of Zelda CDI games are actual physical paintings by illustrator Rob Dunlavey, with level collision placed over the drawn objects and individually animated water / fire effects. I think it's quite a beautiful and interesting method.
With Adventure: taking a lot of inspirations from V-Tamer, I wonder if we could see something like Aero V-Dramon vs Deathmon. With Orgemon vs Greymon I had the same sensation, I think that if they do the same, but with Ultimates, we'll see these effects.

I had a sketch of a mermaid I made a while ago, and not wanting it to go to waste, so I decided to take it and finish it with some testing of photoshop effects.

long ago, gamers enjoyed the latest titles on “peep boxes”, wooden cabinets w/ viewing holes that conveyed graphics + UI elements. The devices were owned and exhibited by itinerant showmen who also provided dialogue + sound effects. Pictured: a boy playing The Last Of Us Part II
