I know there is one Wave artwork with belly navel at some point, then they removed it in other version of the same drawing.
I dunno about other birds from comics like fleetway. Some may just be interpretation of the artist and not actual biologic fact.

fleetway sonic at low tier is a fucking joke, richard elson's design for sonic can be both loose (his early issues and the sonic 3 adaptation) yet vivid, detailed and flat-out badass (109 and so forth)

Ref art for Prince the Metallix. Been on a roll with cleaning up notebook lines! The proportions are more exaggerated than I like to do, but I figured it worked with the style of the Fleetway comics.
